Let's talk, "Pre-Ordered Satisfaction"

Pre-Ordered Satisfaction is a passion project of sorts. A novellette to help me commemorate my first ever bookish events as an author behind the table. But I don't really want to talk about it...lol.

In 2018, I published my first book, Unacceptable Behavior, a collection of short stories.

Since that time, I have rolled out six bodies of work of varying lengths and subject matter. The constant being, the kissing cousins relationship of their genres--erotica, erotic romance, romance.

Until this year (2026), I had not attended a book event as an author. Now with one under my belt (Chocolate City Lit Fest), and my next one on the horizon (Black Romance Book Fest), I felt somewhat inspired.

Gracious.

Humbled.

People finding, reading, and sharing my work is how the top of my, I'M OUTSIDE, calendar for 2026 came about. At the end of the day all I can do is put these words on page. You all do the rest, and I thank you for whatever role you have played in my journey thus far.

To borrow from the acknowledgements page of this latest offering:

...Pre-Ordered Satisfaction is a passion project born out of appreciation--for the increased visibility in this space and to Black women who are the engine behind Black intimacy on page.

My sister in pen, DL White, once said [paraphrasing], the best thing an author can do is have a backlist. It's not lost on me that these festival invites came after I continued writing...

Slim, why are y'all still here? I already said, I don't really want to say too much about this book. It's really supposed to be a surprise. But I'll give you this:

  • The idea was formulated as a thank you

  • After Salt & Pepper, my first true romance, I wanted to pen something short with way more vibes than love

  • Heavy on the HFN

  • The setting: a Black Romance book festival, because duh

Bryson, our MMC and Vallyn, the FMC, are meant to provide the reader a good time, period. If you've ever taken part in a Black romance book festival in any capacity, I hope you can see and feel what I tried to do here.

At the end of the day, I hope you enjoy Pre-Ordered Satisfaction, whenever you get your eyes on it.
